This 4-Ply, 11 Hole Pickguard, is for 2-Humbucking and 1 single coil pickups.

  • Standard, Deluxe and '70s Stratocasters (Mexico)

Guitar has been an indissoluble companion of the blues music. Its forms and styles have evolved with the changing notes of the music. Slide guitar and note bending have been the most common techniques used by blues guitarists. Beginning its journey from the 12 bar blues, the blues guitar has come a long way. The existence of 8 bar and 16 bar blues guitars may be news to many a young guitar players like you. All the three forms of the blues guitar use three chords. Roman numerals are used for their description. But before we delve into the question raised by you, here is more on blues music.

The blues style music has been there since the early 19th century. It advanced as an unaccompanied vocal folk music sung by African-American laborers. This form of music has drawn influences from spiritual songs, work songs, Scott-Irish style narrative ballads and field hollers. Likewise, it has been an inspiration in the development of today's genre of music like the rock and roll, jazz etc. Blues essentially characterizes a sad form of music having influences from the dark and private lives of laborers and the difficulties of their work environment.

Even though blues essentially evolved as a vocal music, guitars have been used to enhance the spirit of its musical notes. A blues guitar makes the progress of each artist smooth by developing his unique style and temperament. Hence, don't presume it as just a harmonic or rhythmic accompaniment of a blues singer.

A variety of guitars have jeweled the blues musicians. However, your own singing style and personal preference is the last word in defining a blues guitar good for you. You may pick from the acoustic steel string instruments to resonator guitars to Fenders and Gibsons. Fender and Gibsons always get the maximum votes, as they have been the first choice of revered guitar players. Magic musician Eric Clapton has endorsed both brands - the Gibson Electro Spanish Series and the Fender Stratocaster. B.B. King and Freddie King have sung with the Gibson Electro. Both these brands stand on the pedestal together, due to their classy looks, impeccable design and construction and above all the versatility of the music that can be stringed from these models.

Fender telecaster is a good choice for country guitarists due to its bright cutting tones. Gibson Les Paul Junior might make a few people raise their eyebrows in doubt. Think again, because it gives excellent results with a P90 pick-up, used with or without an amplifier.

Go in for a Gibson Les Paul, if you are looking for a more solid-bodied blues guitar. Its tough looks with bright cutting tone of maple for the top tied to the passionate mahogany for the body, fused together, makes it an aesthetical wonder.

Go for it guys and hook your girl. Drive into a music store now and handpick that dream guitar you always wanted. I hope your search for a good blues guitar has come to an end here, without giving you as many blues as you expected elsewhere.

The Custom Shop is a wonder to behold. Imagine, getting to work on Eric Clapton's guitar and amps? Being the ONE to supervise the final model, and getting to strip off the paint for Jeff Beck or Andy Summers? The Custom Shop is a wonder all right, but only for those who can afford it. Until at least very recently, that is.

The Custom Shop has been around awhile

For most, it seems we were late to catch on to how awesome the Fender Custom Stratocasters and Telecasters really are.

Now, the Custom Shop has started making great reissues and Masterbuilt guitars available to everyone, not just superstars. In fact, they figured that what the stars ordered, well, it was just as good for everyone else, so why not run off a whole line of Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler guitars? What about a limited line of Jeff Beck signature telecasters? Sounds good to me!

There are different versions of Custom Shop guitars

You can order your own or get an Artist Series, which is the lowest model they have. I'm not even really sure Custom Shop works with these, since they are factory made.

But the king of the crop is the Custom Shop, the Tribute series, Clapton's '57 Blackie' Stratocaster, Andy Summer's limited run of Telecasters, and SRV's 'Lenny'. This is as close as you are probably going to get to the real thing. Enjoy it! Also, note, that the Signature series might not be exactly what your favorite artist plays on stage- but it's probably pretty close.

There are a number of ways to get your hands on Custom Shop models.

But I would say this to you: skip the big-box dealers. You might get lucky and find a few CS models at Guitar Center or another store, but Ebay is your best bet for quality of the Custom Shop models and the range of different Fender Custom Shop Strats and Teles that they have. Stay tuned for my article on Custom Shop Fender Relic and Heavy Relic guitars.

Do you know how much money Guitar Center MAKES off of people like you?

Did you know they use "levels" to match up the kind of gear they want you to buy with the placement of the products in the store? It's SICK! You won't find a FCS or Relic at really any GC or Sam Ash anywhere- and if you do, there is only one of them. They don't care about you. For someone who cares (that's me) I mean, cares about you (cry on my couch) you need to drop in to Fender Guitar Vault to see dozens of FCS as well as the ULTRA Rare Relic series. I mean, why would I lie about Fender selection? :)

Fender 1/6 Scale Mini Stratocaster

The legendary and venerable Fender Stratocaster guitar took guitar design to a higher level and became the voice of rock n roll. Featuring a comfort-contoured body, three single-coil pickups, and a synchronized tremolo system the Strat guitar has become the most popular guitar ever built. This 1/6 scale model guitar comes packaged on a blister card with many accessories including 3 mini picks, strap, shield, transmitter and guitar stand. (NOT PLAYABLE - For DISPLAY ONLY)
Customer Review: Mini Strat
I play a Stratocaster as my main guitar, and I even prefer it over my Les Paul, so I was intriguigued by a miniature Strat. I was expecting something similar to a Strat, but when I got it I was totally jazzed. The detail is unreal. They had gone to great effort to make everything exactly like the real one. It even has a pack of three picks. One thing is put it in a safe place to display it because in making the details in scale it is very delicate. I'm very careful not to damage it because it is a prize display I show to everyone who comes to my house. If you like guitars and unique detailed collectibles check it out. You'll love it. I do.

Most young people at some stage experiment with playing a musical instrument, for some it's a brief journey, while for others it's a life time of adventure. Many who start to play an instrument learn to play the electric guitar. The popularity of this instrument could be for several reasons, relative cheapness of instruments, abundance of teaching methods, but above all electric guitars have "the cool factor" that inspires many people to take it up and play.

Although essentially the same instrument as an acoustic guitar, the electric versions differ in one fundamental way. The difference being that they require electric powered amplifiers for them to operate successfully. While acoustic guitars rely on the cavity within the body to resonate and create the sound and volume, electric guitars make use of pickups and amplifiers to propel the sound. There are overlaps to this definition, for example Archtops, a class of electric guitar, are manufactured with hollow bodies. This allows for the same acoustic resonance produced by acoustic guitars.

Electric guitars have the ability to offer a very specialized sound compared to that of an acoustic version, this is down to the large range of effects pedals and special effect modules available. Electric guitars, unlike their acoustic counterparts, have a poor sustain, but with effects such as overdrive increased sustain is possible to achieve. Other effects including flanger and distortion give rise to sounds that are very popular with rock bands, as well as with the heavy metal music genre.

They also benefit from not being hindered by the regular design of their acoustic cousins, Electric guitars can be shaped in various different ways, allowing for creative designs like the "Flying V" and more comfortable playing. More traditional designs include the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster style, a design most people are familiar with.

The differences aren't just in the body design, compared to acoustic guitars; the strings of an electric guitar are typically thinner. This is due to the fact that they don't really need to resonate as much as the strings in the acoustic versions do. Electric guitar strings are also closer to the guitar's neck, which requires less effort to press them down.

Another class of electrified guitar is the electric bass. This has all the same dynamics, but only has four strings. The strings on an electric bass guitar are considerably thicker compared to the standard gauge of electric guitars; this allows them to play really low notes.

When it comes to learning the guitar most beginners like the idea of playing an electric version as it seems to offer instant fun. Whatever you decide to learn set your budget, get yourself an instrument you feel comfortable with along with some easy to follow guitar tutorials. And most importantly of all, have fun playing.

Everything!

Customer Review: Good stuff
Everything I had hoped for from the Tones and more. Makes you miss the halcyon days in which this lively and innovative music was made. A great job of packaging too - a really solid collection including the pop stuff and the fun oddities.
Customer Review: One of the greatest ever
As much as I love music and all it has to offer, nothing has ever struck and stuck with me like TOT. I owned the POP album on vinyl, and I played it time and time again. Absolutely brilliant! I adore Love and Rockets, and I think Bauhaus are OK (a bit overrated), but this was a true gem. You absolutely must listen to "Rain". Greatest song ever composed in my opinion. I can't stress enough how wonderful this song is. It opens up with ambient organ and guitar (which is e-bowed, a method used throughout their songs), and then it morphs brilliantly into the singing and structure. Lyrically it is stunning, and I tell you the music will just stick with you. Just a beautiful song!

Madonna's 2008 Sticky and Sweet tour is packing out stadiums across Europe, in readiness for her tour that will be unleashed here in October. Her shows have been selling well, and many shows are near sell-outs. In Los Angeles, her only show is scheduled for 6 November 2008 and will be held at Dodger Stadium, and if you act quickly you can snare some tickets at reasonable prices.

Her latest album, Hard Candy, debuted at number one across the globe, has been dominating the charts since it's release on April 25, 2008. The Queen of Pop's album features vocal appearances by today's hottest pop artists such as Justin Timberlake and Kanye West. The producers of the album are the highly respected Timbaland and Pharrell Williams who receive both performance and production credits on the album.

And what are we to expect in LA? It will be the usual stunning array of music, stage antics, dancing and a song list that goes back to 1984!! During her Paris show, always the one to stir up a bit of controversy, Madonna tried a bit of push-it-to-the-edge sexual antics by kissing one of the female dancers, or one of the female audience members. Swigging champagne bottle she yelled at the crowd "Who do you love more, me or the Rolling Stones?"

The Material Girl always puts on an amazing concert, and this is one show not to be missed. Her current single with Justin Timberlake has hit the top of the charts all around the world. It seems the world can't get enough of this amazing lady, half way through her third decade of constantly reinventing herself and of being a superstar. And her catalog of songs is awesome including "Like a Prayer", "Vogue", "Get into the Groove" and "Holiday".

You can still obtain those tickets for Madonna in LA if you follow the link below.

Most of us who play blues guitar are familiar with the 12 bar blues. Almost every blues guitar player has played songs like Sweet Home Chicago, Pride and Joy, Red House, and one of the thousands of other blues songs that use the 12 bar form. What many blues guitar players dont know, is that there are two other great blues forms to choose from, the 8 bar blues, and the 16 bar blues.

All of the forms use only three chords, and roman numerals are used to describe them. The first chord, called the I chord, is usually a dominant seventh type of chord that is built from the first note in the major scale. If you are in the key of G, then G7 will be your I chord. The fourth note of a G major scale is a C, so the next chord used is called the IV chord and would be C7 in the key of G. The fifth note in the G major scale is D, so the V chord would be D7. So now you have your three primary chords, G7, C7, and D7.

The 12 bar blues is 12 measures long. The term bar is just another word for measure. The first bar is always the I chord. The second bar is either the I chord again, or for a quick change blues, it is the IV chord. Bars 3 and 4 are always the I chord again. Bars 5 and 6 will be the IV chord, and bars 7 and 8 will be the I chord. Bar 9 is the V chord, but bar 10 will either be IV or V. Bar 11 is the I chord, and Bar 12 is the V chord which sets up the listener for the start of the next chorus.

The 8 bar blues, as in the song Key To The Highway, also starts with a I chord. After that, Bar 2 is the V chord. Bars 3 and 4 belong to the IV chord. Bar 5 is back to the I chord. Bar 6 is the V. Bars 7 and 8 repeat that sentiment with the I chord on Bar 7 and the V chord on bar 8. Once again, the final bar has the V chord to setup for the next chorus.

A 16 bar blues, such as the Herbie Hancock tune, Watermelon Man, starts like a 12 bar blues. The first four bars are the I chord. Bars 5 and 6 the IV chord, and bars 7 and 8 return to the I chord. Even bars 9 and 10 share the V and IV chord usage like the 12 bar blues. The difference is in that bars 9 and 10 are repeated 2 more times for Bars 11 14. Finally, bar 15 returns to the I chord which also holds on for bar 16.

As a blues guitar player, remember that its not that important how you play the chords in a blues tune. You can play the same tune with several different comping styles and get several great results for the same tune. Similarly, when you find a good comping pattern that you like, dont be afraid to stick with it for a lot of the tunes that you play. If it works well in one tune, chances are it will work well in others.

Left Handed Stratocaster Electric Guitar Metal Belt Buckle

One guitarist, who has been playing for about thirty years
and has used a myriad number of guitars, loves his Fender
62 reissue Telecaster, which he bought in the UK. Designed
in 1983, this Fender 62 reissue Telecaster is a very
different color of cherry grain and lighter than a Les
Paul, which he likes.

As a guitarist who dabbles in country, rock and roll and
even blues, he appreciates that the Fender 62 reissue
Telecaster is a great instrument for all three. When
playing country music he uses the pickup of the bridge; for
blues the neck pickup. A Roland processor and two twins
operating in stereo is how he started out using his Fender
62 Telecaster, but lately he employs an Ibanez compressor
with a Fender Hot Rod, 40 watt, and straight out of the
amplifier.

The only negative thing this experienced guitarist has to
say about his classic Fender 62 is that the factory vintage
tuners make it difficult to change strings very quickly.

The 62 reissue Telecaster earned a ten (out of 10) for
reliability and durability from this reviewer. He has never
had to call on customer service for any repair or support.

This accomplished musician calls his Fender 62 Telecaster
the best musical investment he has ever made.

Another guitarist, who has owned his 62 reissue Telecaster
for twenty years, said the same thing about reliability. He
has just never had a problem with it and is interested in
finding out just how long it's going to last. While he says
it's the Jeep and not the Ferrari of guitars he truly loves
the sound and action of this instrument. One negative note
from this reviewer - the strings break often.

Playing in Style of Fender Stratocaster

Customer Review: insight to signature fender telecaster styles/sounds
this video and the accompanying booklet provide great insight for the beginner or experienced player to the equipment spec's., and details of special tunings, chord-voicings and techniques of the most prominent and enduring telecaster driven superstars. i have not been able to find a second, or follow-up volume to this video (an effort well-warranted). nonetheless, if you're looking for a launching point from which to delve further into the playing of superstars like danny gatton, james burton, johnny lang, albert lee, kieth richards, and andy summers- this is money and time well spent.

1. Hi folks;

Looks like Kenny and TMG/AEG Live will be in business together starting in 09 and right through until 2013. The deal has to do with Kenny's future tours and will pay Kenny based on the amount of tickets that could be sold vs the number of tickets actually sold.

So TMG/AEG will have to ensure there are bums in the seats and Kenny can just focus on what he does best ... entertain! The deal has nothing to do with any recordings or merchandise, concert tours and events.

2. Yes, in order to get Kenny to perform at the recent County Fest, festival promoters coughed up a cool million to Kenny to appear. In 03 they paid Kenny $325,000, so to cover the increase, fans this year had to pay as much as $130 to see Kenny perform. There were mixed reviews on the hefty price.

3. Don't miss tonight's episode of Late Night With Conan O'Brien as Kenny will make a guest appearance.

Tomorrow Kenny will take in the All Star game at Yankee Stadium and his Poets & Pirates Tour crosses over the midway point.

"It's cool to be able to get back to Conan," Kenny says. "And for me, getting to go to the All-Star Game and be up close the way I'm going to get to be, well, those aren't the kinds of things I don't think any of us really dream of doing."

4.
Here are the stats so far in 08 according to Pollstar's Top 10

1. Bon Jovi - $56.3 Million
2. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band - $40.8 Million
3. Van Halen ($36.8 million
4. Kenny Chesney ($35.3 million
5. Michael Buble ($32.5 million
6. Kanye West ($31.6 million
7. Jay-Z/Mary J. Blige ($30.7 million
8. Rascal Flatts ($25.4 million
9. & 10 - Spice Girls and The Police at about $23.3 million each.

5. They have all joined Master Cards "Roots Of Rock Sweepsteaks" which will allow one lucky winner for each artist to see where it all began for that artist. For Kenny fans, it will be a trip to Nashville, where they will get a guided tour of all of the famous spots during Kenny's career. The winner and 3 guests will also get an intimate performance from Kenny in Knoxville.

Kenny said; "It was an honor to be considered with this company. At this level, it's hard to bring people into your music on this kind of level. But winning the sweepstakes and experiencing the Nashville I came to, that will put you not just inside the songs, but inside how the dream happened."

The promotion is on now and runs through August. Every time a user uses their Master Card they are entered automatically. If you use PayPal, you're entered twice. Non-card holders can enter online. Priceless.com has a section called Tour The Town where you can get tidbits of little known info on all artists early beginnings.

6. Each show costs $1.4 million to put on (excluding fuel and talent cost)
The vehicles on Kenny's tour get 3-5 miles per gallon
Fuel was budgeted at $2.85 per gallon
Kenny has some section seats, called "Shiftwork Seats", priced between $10-$30

Kenny said, "I grew up in East Tennessee, lower middle class, and that's the demographic of the country now that's struggling the most. That's also my audience, and I don't want anyone who wants to come to the show to be unable to afford it."

7. Kenny used to play a lot of golf, eat a lot of pizza, drink a lot of beer and ate a lot of Waffle House.

But in 1997 he changed gears and began working out with a personal trainer. That trainer, known as Daniel Burns, travels with Kenny on tour to make sure he stays on track.

"If hadn't been for golf," he joked, "this might have never happened."

8. Kenny and many other artists have contributed to a new CD entitled Patriotic 3, which is a charity album to raise awareness for Military Kids. The program provides assistance to kids who's parents have been deployed or injured and recovering.

Here is the list of performances found on the CD.

"A Lot Of Things Different," Kenny Chesney
"Letters From Home," John Michael Montgomery
"Blessed," Martina McBride
"My Front Porch Looking In," Lonestar
"Politically Uncorrect," Gretchen Wilson
"I'm From The Country," Tracy Byrd
"One More Day," Diamond Rio
"The Last Of A Dying Breed," Neal McCoy
"Long Arm Of The Law," Kenny Rogers
"The Fightin' Side Of Me," Merle Haggard and The Strangers
"Not Me," Keni Thomas
"God Bless America," LeAnn Rimes
"If I Don't Make It Back," Tracy Lawrence
"America," Waylon Jennings
"What Say You," Travis Tritt
"Everyday America," Sugarland
"Heroes And Friends," Randy Travis

9. Speaking Live on the national radio show GAC Nights, Kenny recently stated;

"I am that guy in 'Better as a Memory. I think this is a letter that I've written three or four times in my life to people, because at that point in my life when I wrote those letters, I was in such a focused period. I was a very zoned-in person on doing this out here, and you know, like the old Mac Davis song, 'Baby Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me,' you know, this is kind of that song, but in a little bit deeper of a way. When I wrote those letters, I was better as a memory than as their man, I promise you."

Not sure whats happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better Happy Woman Blues gets. Happy Woman Blues stated simply is one of Lucinda Williamss best CDs to date.

Unfortunately, its not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just cant force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Happy Woman Blues. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

One of the nicer things about a CD like this is when the talent is this rich even if Rock isnt your favorite style you still cant help but appreciate the greatness of the artist.

If youre a Lucinda Williams fan, or just a fan of Rock music this is a CD your collection simply should not be without.

While the entire album is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 4 - Happy Woman Blues, track 7 - One Night Stand, and track 11 - Sharp Cutting Wings.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Lafayette. Wow!

Kanye West Goldigger is by far the biggest hit on his new album Late Registration. A duet with Jamie Foxx, Goldigger mixes Kanye West's patented beats with a delectable sound off with Jamie Foxx.

Kanye West Goldigger has found its share of criticism among the rap and hip-hop community. Fans seemed to have higher hopes of the Late Registration album. Still, his loyalist fans are keeping his music CD sales afloat.

One Kanye West Goldigger fan, Diarci Jones of Los Angeles, California said, "Kanye has brought a sense of hope to the black and hip-hop community. I bought this album just to support his cause."

Whether Kanye West Goldigger is a hit or not, it seems fans will find any reason to buy it. Check out Goldigger and other hits from the Late Registration album with MP3s over the internet, or the music album CD on store shelves.

But the question raised in everyone's mind is: can Kanye stay at the top, despite his recent critisms of the Bush administration?

One White House staffer, Karl Jones said, "Kanye's partisan rhetoric may play chill on the streets, but his reckless comments at a fundraiser no less, were completely out of line."

Whether you like him or not, Kanye is one hot dude.

We all know what improvisational comedy is, but have you heard of improv music? Imagine music being played in the moment, coming directly from the heart of each musician and flowing back and forth between the players and the audience. They say that in improv comedy the truth often comes out from the player and this is also correct for improv music.

There is no plan with improv music, no set of notes or chords to follow. The music evolves as is it being played and is an end result of the musicians creating it. The instrumentation can be varied, it can be as simple as a solo pianist or as all encompassing as a full orchestra, although it is more difficult to create good improv with many players. For anyone who has ever been to a drum circle on the beach with 30 or so drummers, you know what I mean. And those guys don't even need to worry about melody.

The best improv music is usually created by a small hand full of players. The most important aspect of good improv is that all the players listen to each other. Listening and often times watching each other will give them clues as to which way the music will go next. When each participant follows the flow of the music, the best results are created.

Improv music doesn't have to be only instrumental either, some singers have the ability to invent on the spot. This is true vocal improvisation. While other singers can improvise melody, but may have a cheat sheet or two of previously written lyrics nearby to help with the process.

The style of the improv will depend on the players in the group. Improv music can range from punk rockish or experimental to ethereal or something similar to a movie soundtrack. Some of the most common instruments used in modern improv are keyboards, guitars and drums. As there is no beginning or end, well at least none planned, these decisions are made moment by moment by the players. The best improvisers know when to drop out and when to jump in, no matter what instrument they are playing.

The most important aspect in creating a good improv atmosphere is to creatively explore the music in a low-risk situation. The quality of the musicianship is not as important as having a nurturing vibe for the playing room. Relaxing into the music, rather than worrying about the missed notes, will allow the musician to listen and learn. Even the most experienced musicians hit bad notes and it is possible for the greenest player to come up with brilliance.

Improv music isn't just for the musicians though, it also has benefit for the listener. Due to the nature of improvisation the music resulting is often of a mellow and free-flowing style. The creative power that flowed through the musicians who created it, also flows to the listener. This type of music provides wonderful backdrop to creative tasks the listener might want to accomplish, especially if the music is instrumental and allows the listener to drift into the creative groove without the need to comprehend words.

The benefits of music therapy have long been known to therapists the world around. Improvisational music imbibes all the creative power that the musicians put into it and the listener enjoys this creative harvest. As modern music listeners we have all heard many styles of music and can usually figure out where something is going without much trouble. The music we enjoy most is an in-between mix, with some confirmation of expectations along with pleasant surprises, in a blend that is interesting rather than frustrating.

Good improv music can often be akin to a good mystery novel, it is difficult to predict and yet it fits together in a creatively logical way, so when we look back on what we heard we say "yes, of course." Improv can challenge our creativity and show us sides of ourselves we haven't seen before, while stimulating our inner muse.

Listening to improvised music as a background soundtrack while we perform other tasks, be they artistic or not, can often increase our creative powers. The same way improvisation for the theater builds creativity for the players and the audience, so does musical improv. Whether the person is actively involved or merely a listener, the benefit comes through. As we involve ourselves as listeners, the creative vibe originally created by the musicians now flows through us.

There is no plan in improv music and therein lies the beauty. Some things in life can be experienced much more easily than explained. This is the case for improvisational music. The truth in improvisational music is that the creative spirit needed to bring it into being is within each of its players and listeners alike.

Keith King is a fine artist, graphic designer and musician, but still manages to pay the rent on time. He has been making his way around the internet since the early 90s and only recommends the good stuff.
