I play a Stratocaster as my main guitar, and I even prefer it over my Les Paul, so I was intriguigued by a miniature Strat. I was expecting something similar to a Strat, but when I got it I was totally jazzed. The detail is unreal. They had gone to great effort to make everything exactly like the real one. It even has a pack of three picks. One thing is put it in a safe place to display it because in making the details in scale it is very delicate. I'm very careful not to damage it because it is a prize display I show to everyone who comes to my house. If you like guitars and unique detailed collectibles check it out. You'll love it. I do.

Most young people at some stage experiment with playing a musical instrument, for some it's a brief journey, while for others it's a life time of adventure. Many who start to play an instrument learn to play the electric guitar. The popularity of this instrument could be for several reasons, relative cheapness of instruments, abundance of teaching methods, but above all electric guitars have "the cool factor" that inspires many people to take it up and play.

Although essentially the same instrument as an acoustic guitar, the electric versions differ in one fundamental way. The difference being that they require electric powered amplifiers for them to operate successfully. While acoustic guitars rely on the cavity within the body to resonate and create the sound and volume, electric guitars make use of pickups and amplifiers to propel the sound. There are overlaps to this definition, for example Archtops, a class of electric guitar, are manufactured with hollow bodies. This allows for the same acoustic resonance produced by acoustic guitars.

Electric guitars have the ability to offer a very specialized sound compared to that of an acoustic version, this is down to the large range of effects pedals and special effect modules available. Electric guitars, unlike their acoustic counterparts, have a poor sustain, but with effects such as overdrive increased sustain is possible to achieve. Other effects including flanger and distortion give rise to sounds that are very popular with rock bands, as well as with the heavy metal music genre.

They also benefit from not being hindered by the regular design of their acoustic cousins, Electric guitars can be shaped in various different ways, allowing for creative designs like the "Flying V" and more comfortable playing. More traditional designs include the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster style, a design most people are familiar with.

The differences aren't just in the body design, compared to acoustic guitars; the strings of an electric guitar are typically thinner. This is due to the fact that they don't really need to resonate as much as the strings in the acoustic versions do. Electric guitar strings are also closer to the guitar's neck, which requires less effort to press them down.

Another class of electrified guitar is the electric bass. This has all the same dynamics, but only has four strings. The strings on an electric bass guitar are considerably thicker compared to the standard gauge of electric guitars; this allows them to play really low notes.

When it comes to learning the guitar most beginners like the idea of playing an electric version as it seems to offer instant fun. Whatever you decide to learn set your budget, get yourself an instrument you feel comfortable with along with some easy to follow guitar tutorials. And most importantly of all, have fun playing.

As much as I love music and all it has to offer, nothing has ever struck and stuck with me like TOT. I owned the POP album on vinyl, and I played it time and time again. Absolutely brilliant! I adore Love and Rockets, and I think Bauhaus are OK (a bit overrated), but this was a true gem. You absolutely must listen to "Rain". Greatest song ever composed in my opinion. I can't stress enough how wonderful this song is. It opens up with ambient organ and guitar (which is e-bowed, a method used throughout their songs), and then it morphs brilliantly into the singing and structure. Lyrically it is stunning, and I tell you the music will just stick with you. Just a beautiful song!

Madonna's 2008 Sticky and Sweet tour is packing out stadiums across Europe, in readiness for her tour that will be unleashed here in October. Her shows have been selling well, and many shows are near sell-outs. In Los Angeles, her only show is scheduled for 6 November 2008 and will be held at Dodger Stadium, and if you act quickly you can snare some tickets at reasonable prices.

Her latest album, Hard Candy, debuted at number one across the globe, has been dominating the charts since it's release on April 25, 2008. The Queen of Pop's album features vocal appearances by today's hottest pop artists such as Justin Timberlake and Kanye West. The producers of the album are the highly respected Timbaland and Pharrell Williams who receive both performance and production credits on the album.

And what are we to expect in LA? It will be the usual stunning array of music, stage antics, dancing and a song list that goes back to 1984!! During her Paris show, always the one to stir up a bit of controversy, Madonna tried a bit of push-it-to-the-edge sexual antics by kissing one of the female dancers, or one of the female audience members. Swigging champagne bottle she yelled at the crowd "Who do you love more, me or the Rolling Stones?"

The Material Girl always puts on an amazing concert, and this is one show not to be missed. Her current single with Justin Timberlake has hit the top of the charts all around the world. It seems the world can't get enough of this amazing lady, half way through her third decade of constantly reinventing herself and of being a superstar. And her catalog of songs is awesome including "Like a Prayer", "Vogue", "Get into the Groove" and "Holiday".

Most of us who play blues guitar are familiar with the 12 bar blues. Almost every blues guitar player has played songs like Sweet Home Chicago, Pride and Joy, Red House, and one of the thousands of other blues songs that use the 12 bar form. What many blues guitar players dont know, is that there are two other great blues forms to choose from, the 8 bar blues, and the 16 bar blues.

All of the forms use only three chords, and roman numerals are used to describe them. The first chord, called the I chord, is usually a dominant seventh type of chord that is built from the first note in the major scale. If you are in the key of G, then G7 will be your I chord. The fourth note of a G major scale is a C, so the next chord used is called the IV chord and would be C7 in the key of G. The fifth note in the G major scale is D, so the V chord would be D7. So now you have your three primary chords, G7, C7, and D7.

The 12 bar blues is 12 measures long. The term bar is just another word for measure. The first bar is always the I chord. The second bar is either the I chord again, or for a quick change blues, it is the IV chord. Bars 3 and 4 are always the I chord again. Bars 5 and 6 will be the IV chord, and bars 7 and 8 will be the I chord. Bar 9 is the V chord, but bar 10 will either be IV or V. Bar 11 is the I chord, and Bar 12 is the V chord which sets up the listener for the start of the next chorus.

The 8 bar blues, as in the song Key To The Highway, also starts with a I chord. After that, Bar 2 is the V chord. Bars 3 and 4 belong to the IV chord. Bar 5 is back to the I chord. Bar 6 is the V. Bars 7 and 8 repeat that sentiment with the I chord on Bar 7 and the V chord on bar 8. Once again, the final bar has the V chord to setup for the next chorus.

A 16 bar blues, such as the Herbie Hancock tune, Watermelon Man, starts like a 12 bar blues. The first four bars are the I chord. Bars 5 and 6 the IV chord, and bars 7 and 8 return to the I chord. Even bars 9 and 10 share the V and IV chord usage like the 12 bar blues. The difference is in that bars 9 and 10 are repeated 2 more times for Bars 11 14. Finally, bar 15 returns to the I chord which also holds on for bar 16.

As a blues guitar player, remember that its not that important how you play the chords in a blues tune. You can play the same tune with several different comping styles and get several great results for the same tune. Similarly, when you find a good comping pattern that you like, dont be afraid to stick with it for a lot of the tunes that you play. If it works well in one tune, chances are it will work well in others.

tuners make it difficult to change strings very quickly.

The 62 reissue Telecaster earned a ten (out of 10) for
reliability and durability from this reviewer. He has never
had to call on customer service for any repair or support.

This accomplished musician calls his Fender 62 Telecaster
the best musical investment he has ever made.

Another guitarist, who has owned his 62 reissue Telecaster
for twenty years, said the same thing about reliability. He
has just never had a problem with it and is interested in
finding out just how long it's going to last. While he says
it's the Jeep and not the Ferrari of guitars he truly loves
the sound and action of this instrument. One negative note
from this reviewer - the strings break often.

this video and the accompanying booklet provide great insight for the beginner or experienced player to the equipment spec's., and details of special tunings, chord-voicings and techniques of the most prominent and enduring telecaster driven superstars. i have not been able to find a second, or follow-up volume to this video (an effort well-warranted). nonetheless, if you're looking for a launching point from which to delve further into the playing of superstars like danny gatton, james burton, johnny lang, albert lee, kieth richards, and andy summers- this is money and time well spent.

Looks like Kenny and TMG/AEG Live will be in business together starting in 09 and right through until 2013. The deal has to do with Kenny's future tours and will pay Kenny based on the amount of tickets that could be sold vs the number of tickets actually sold.

So TMG/AEG will have to ensure there are bums in the seats and Kenny can just focus on what he does best ... entertain! The deal has nothing to do with any recordings or merchandise, concert tours and events.

2. Yes, in order to get Kenny to perform at the recent County Fest, festival promoters coughed up a cool million to Kenny to appear. In 03 they paid Kenny $325,000, so to cover the increase, fans this year had to pay as much as $130 to see Kenny perform. There were mixed reviews on the hefty price.

3. Don't miss tonight's episode of Late Night With Conan O'Brien as Kenny will make a guest appearance.

Tomorrow Kenny will take in the All Star game at Yankee Stadium and his Poets & Pirates Tour crosses over the midway point.

"It's cool to be able to get back to Conan," Kenny says. "And for me, getting to go to the All-Star Game and be up close the way I'm going to get to be, well, those aren't the kinds of things I don't think any of us really dream of doing."

But in 1997 he changed gears and began working out with a personal trainer. That trainer, known as Daniel Burns, travels with Kenny on tour to make sure he stays on track.

"If hadn't been for golf," he joked, "this might have never happened."

I think this is a letter that I've written three or four times in my life to people, because at that point in my life when I wrote those letters, I was in such a focused period. I was a very zoned-in person on doing this out here, and you know, like the old Mac Davis song, 'Baby Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me,' you know, this is kind of that song, but in a little bit deeper of a way. When I wrote those letters, I was better as a memory than as their man, I promise you."

Not sure whats happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better Happy Woman Blues gets. Happy Woman Blues stated simply is one of Lucinda Williamss best CDs to date.

Unfortunately, its not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just cant force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Happy Woman Blues. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

One of the nicer things about a CD like this is when the talent is this rich even if Rock isnt your favorite style you still cant help but appreciate the greatness of the artist.

If youre a Lucinda Williams fan, or just a fan of Rock music this is a CD your collection simply should not be without.

While the entire album is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 4 - Happy Woman Blues, track 7 - One Night Stand, and track 11 - Sharp Cutting Wings.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Lafayette. Wow!
