Learning isn't fun, I mean to most people learning is just boring - no one wants to do it.

Even more so when it comes to a musical instrument. You have things such as scales and monotonous exercises and you never seem to actually get to learning songs. Most people will not go near a piano -even though they love it, out of fear that they will not know how to play it. And the majority of the time their fear is justified.

If you are looking at getting started the typical scenario is that you walk into your teachers studio and she brings out a book of music for you to learn. And if you are luck she might teach you chord based piano - but that is highly unlikely.

This is because most music teachers think that you have to learn how to read sheet music before you are able to play. This is absolute rubbish.

Music and songs are made up of chords and progressions and this should be taught first because to learn something properly you have to understand the language of the music. Understand the chords and the music will flow from there.

Just learning to read music limits your ability to music that has already been created, by learning the chords and structures you are able to create music on demand - making up quality tunes on the spot, great for showing off to friends and families, or even just for your own entertainment.
